Vega and The Design School of SA Open Day caricatures

When Vega and The Design School of SA are having an open day, I get invited to get the students and potential students psyched about drawing. I guess to say, "If you enjoyed Art at school, you're in the right place". This one turned out to be quite the party. I was there on behalf of Sparx media.

Bella Vista School Big Bash Caricaturing

I was apprehensive about only drawing children, expecting them to be fidgety, reluctant and difficult to capture, but to my surprise they were fantastic and more eager than the adults. And already you could see so much character in their young faces.

FAWC Charity Auction event caricatures

A firing squad of 4 caricature artists lined up for this FAWC charity event at The Sheds in Newtown in May. It was interesting to see the different styles.

Standard Bank movie caricatures

At this conference for a Standard Bank team, everyone had to pick a movie star and a film. I then had to caricature them in that role. Each one took 15 minutes to complete although the models only had to sit for 8 minutes each. It happened at my favourite spot, The Blades in Pretoria.

Calvin's Birthday Surprise at Morrells

I've been drawing at Morrells Boutique Estate a few times so I thought I'd add these from Calvin's surprise birthday. His wife thought she was going to a work function. We pretended they were early and while I drew their caricature all their friends snuck up behind her. She was under strict instructions from me not to move during the drawing. I then revealed the picture with Happy Birthday written on it. Her face was momentarily transfigured by confusion until everyone began singing Happy Birthday. What a lark! Here are some pics from the evening.

People often request other friends and family to be drawn from their phones. Not a problem, as long as the pics are clear enough.

Caricatures at Stuart's 21st Birthday

I enjoyed adding to the good cheer at Stuart's 21st. I even got tears (of joy) from the one couple - a caricaturist's favourite. A little endorsement from Stuart's mom, Thank you so much for making Stuart's birthday special!! I was a bit nervous as I thought people might be a bit shy to have their caricature drawn but there was a lot of excitement and everybody loved it!!
